Self Care During a Pandemic

Updated: Aug 18, 2020

I don't know about you, but I have struggled to maintain myself during this COVID-19 pandemic! I thought that being home everyday would allow me more time to do the things that I wanted to do. I couldn't have been more wrong! I have found myself to be busier during my time at home than I have ever been. Before I knew it, I was stressed, irritable, and didn't want to be around anyone.

I needed to do something for me. Not for the children. Not for my husband. And surely not for work! I really wanted to lay in the bed, watch TV, and eat popcorn, cake, and pizza. My husband let me do just that! And I felt 10x better afterwards.

Then I decided that I needed to take care of me more often to prevent burnout. I have begin a routine of self care that maybe you can benefit from as well.

#1 Spend time outside

Take a walk around your neighborhood, ride your bike, or simply sit out on your porch and feel the warmth of the sun beam down on you. (Practice social distancing too).

#2 Get some rest

Sleeping helps keep stress under control. We are less moody and can function better.

#3 Dive into a Book

Catch up on a series or start your own book club. Mystery, science fiction, or self help book - you choose!

#4 Take a bubble bath

Put on some 90's R&B and sit back and relax in the tub.

#6 Socially check in

Connect with family and friends although you have to be apart.

#7 Exercise

Get your body moving and release the feel good hormones! This can boost your energy and also fight against emotional stress.

I hope this has been beneficial to you! If so, please share with others! If you are looking for more lifestyle, parenting tips, tricks, and secrets, make sure to follow this board!
